DC's Catch

Horace & Dickie's Seafood
809 12th Street NE
Washington, DC 20002
(202)397-6040

Park your car, get on line, grab your fish sandwich and go the hell home! This hole in the wall fish fry is one of my favorite spots in the nations capitol. At very reasonable prices you can feed 2 people for less than $10 easily. Their specialty is fried whiting and the shrimp are not bad either. There is nothing special about the french fries here. In fact, I usually opt out and just get all fish. The side dishes also include greens, potato salad, cole slaw, etc... you're familiar trust me. If you absolutely need to have a side dish to go with your fish sandwich, feel free. They will not hurt your meal, but definitely will not help it either. A very pleasant surprise are the sweat potato pies sold here. Be sure to grab a couple on the way out.

Last Minute Bird

Chicken Rico
8839 Greenbelt Road
Cipriano Square
Greenbelt, MD 20770

Hours:
Monday - Saturday: 11am - 10pm
Sundays: 11am - 9pm

If you are looking for a spot to grab rotisserie style chicken you might want to stop by "Chicken Rico" of Greenbelt, MD. The tiny restaurant is located off of Greenbelt road in Cipriano Square shopping mall adjacent to the K Mart. Don't be confused by the words "A la Brasa" when you arrive - you're at the right place. I usually find myself carrying out a whole chicken at the reasonable price of around $11 or so. Obviously you can get 1/4 chicken or half chicken if you're not as greedy as I am. Dinner platters are also available to customers, but side dishes are not their specialty if you know what I mean. If you absolutely have to have a side dish though, the cole slaw and french fries aren't bad at all. Don't venture too far from those though. Sauce for the chicken is there for the taking but I wouldn't dare to mess up a good thing with a funny looking version of mayonnaise or strange green sauce. That's just me. "Chicken Rico" is perfect if you are not in the cooking mood and want to grab something quick on the way home from work. Just make sure whoever is home heats up some frozen veggies. I have never dined in at this restaurant but that does not mean that I would never. The dining area is clean and pleasant but very small and unromantic. Carry out is recommended.
